Oh, I’m supposed to apologize for being an adult in this thread.
Because all you’ve got is basically name calling, as a retort.

Apology
No one has asked you for an apology? I just wonder why you feel like you have to repeatedly give negative comments on a Post that most of us ( I suspect) find interesting?! What if I told you that I really don’t give two ****s that your guns are capable of shooting tiny little holes in paper, when you then use them to shoot holes in tiny deer?! Too each thier own. Ps. Adults know when to keep thier mouths shut.

This sounds like an ant and a grasshopper story. Thats a great idea to procrastinate on those draws Dick That way there’s a better chance to miss the draw date and leave your draw tag for someone who still gets excited. I’ve got a 89 year old Dad still excited about draws and I hope I am too at that age. Also when you hunt with the same crew year after year strategizing on the draws is fun with your buddies.

Ok. So let me get this straight. A guy posts that the draw dates are out and he is excited. And someone has to come along and tell him not to get excited for the draws and to spend his time more “efficiently”?
Seriously man, get your head out of your ass! It’s a hunting forum to talk about hunting. You may be old and a “vet” but man, life must have really beaten you down to feel the need to make comments like that. Let the guy be excited and others who share in his excitement.

Here’s what I wrote:
“Whether you apply on day one or on the last day, the opportunities and chances remain exactly the same.
If you haven’t got an idea of your strategy, by the time the results came out last year, you’ve got things pretty bass ackwards.
My apologies to anyone who’s doing draws for their first time, these comments aren’t directed towards you.”
I am only offering a alternate approach, and opinion as to my way of thinking.
More strategic vs. more hyper.
Maybe you fellas need to take a step back and think a bit before being so hyper.
Typical piling on, when somebody offers a different way of doing things.
There’s no where that I said the draws aren’t important to me, there’s no where where I said or inferred that I didn’t anticipate the coming of hunting season, I only questioned the hyper active reaction to something you’ve likely seen and experienced multiple times.
Think of it as my approach is slow roasting vs. Fast frying...........

Draws
Hey I’m no spring chicken and I’m super excited not only for the chance at a trophy muley but much more important to me it’s a once every 5 years trip to a real good buddies house hunting with him and his boys for a week that’s what really got me pumped, and for that reason I won’t apologize for being excited like an 8 year old at Christmas cheers.

My opinion Dick is right You should be planning this year's draw right after last year's results. my grand son should be drawn for calf moose this year, which get me excited for this draw.

I’m always excited for draws. And hunting moose this year not enough points for mule deer on my land yet and should get archery antelop and p9 for antlered elk

there is always the rumor of how the random tags have been allotted to first come first serve and the random number to start at is 1. hence why so many call frantically at midnight on the opener.... I was told that was how the same guys were getting drawn for the tough tags...... goat and Melon's 3 cadomin tags ..... just saying.

I'm glad I came in here to be told that getting excited is bad and that I should act like a cranky old man.
Might pull the moose tag this year, never know when the special group will put an end to it.

I am in the camp that eagerly awaits the draw booklet every year. Annual changes can have a big effect on strategy, vacation time, expectations of drawing etc. I know of two draws that I have a chance to pull this year that could change significantly based on fairly credible info I have on possible changes. I am have spent a ton of time on draw strategy which has paid off in the past and I really enjoy the planning. Now I have to go check for the 5th time today to see if they are out.....

If people read the regs...... 😝
I'm on board with the Spring 2020 extension on the majority of black bear WMU. Now if they'd just lift some restrictions on baiting closures....
