Default New stick

OK, so I finally got a Creedmoor...6.5, that is.

I'm going to call this one "The European". Since it's a Sako A-7 Roughtech Range with a Ziess Conquest V4 6-24x50.

Review will be posted after load development.

I have that same rifle in the 6.5 CM and it's a VERY good shooter.
The first 4 groups of 3 shots I fired out of it at 100 meters went into .40, .45, .47 and .50". This was with a 139 Lapua Scenar and Rel 17.

You'll like it.

By the looks of that barrel, you are already well downrange before the bullet sees daylight

Nice looking rig. Isn’t it mandatory to have a long barrel on a 6.5CM to get any kind of velocity out of it?

It’s not overly long then. Looking at the pic I thought it would be 27+.

Damn, all the Creed propoganda must have been wrong. It is clear they don't kick at all, or is the Brake on it to make it loud enough people know it isn't just a cap gun going off.

Nice looking rig and sounds like they shoot. Should be a ball to play with.

Had one, sold it, regret it. Really nice shooting rifle. 139 lapua scenar and H4350, I could consistently make little clover leafs at 100 yards.

I'm a big fan of 6.5cm and I find all the jokes, propaganda and haters to be quite entertaining. Haters gonna hate.

Default Nice Euro

Very Nice Rifle. I hope you really enjoy it. Seems like a nice combo of equipment.

What is your intended use? Is it going to be primarily hunting or target or both?

I kind of fell into this rifle/caliber. I already have a long range precision 6.5x47L build, so the CM didn't really interest me that much when it came out a few years ago. But the deal I got on this rifle couldn't be passed on. So I took the plunge.

The rifle will be a long range steel and paper puncher (I'm not a hunter). I hope to walk it out to a mile or close to there. My x47 has been out to the mile many times with the 139gr Scenars.

I'll be loading the 136gr Lapua Scenars with BR4 primers and Varget powder inside Lapua brass. I should be starting the charge weight at 36gr and working up from there.

I loaded 50 rounds for the latest caliber in my arsenal. Time for load testing the new 6.5CM this weekend. I loaded 6 different charge weights of Varget with BR4 primers, Lapua brass, and Lapua 136gr Scenar-L's. And I am very pleased with myself. My margin of error on all processes, from sizing to seating, is .0005".

And the weather looks promising!

That's awesome 6,,, same for use as we're onto a 5 day loooooong week shooting rally out West. Ha.

I hope it snows at least 2 feet so we can spot the missed shots...

Lots of winds as the Mill Rads get cranked.

Have a good week all.

👍

Nice rig. My next build is a 6.5 of some sort. How is the tracking on that scope?

Well, it's my first Zeiss. The glass seems pretty decent and the tactile feel of the turrets is very nice. The zero stop is something that is a bit weird compared to the 4 Nightforce scopes that I have. And the turret screws are all very small torx head. But I have figured out the zero stop and it seems that it tracks dead on through OCW testing. I'll be able to further evaluate it when I step out on the mile range. I will include a discussion about the scope and those Burris rings with the cant inserts too.
