I have filled out all of my paperwork and have booked flights, just waiting for the government to get back to me. I know people who have gone to the exact place we are going and have done nothing but praise the experience. My 20 year old son is going to get his first big game animal and it will be in Africa so we are not concerned about how long we are travelling or what hoops we have to jump through.

Best of luck to you and your son, Africa is amazing.

When i went 5 years ago i traveled with KLM through Amsterdam to Johannesburg. Here is the KLM Policy: https://www.klm.com/travel/en/prepar.../index.htm#p10

They are an excellent airline to fly with imo, however I still borrowed the PHs setup. As people mentioned above, its a lot less hassle.

Hope you post some pics when you return!

I just heard back from the government, They're response was that they do not interpret the embargo. I asked specifically, I am a Legal fire arm owner booking a legal hunting trip, going to a country where I am legal to hunt and legal to travel. When I arrive I have fill out paperwork to get a permit and after my hunt present myself to the boarder and leave with my hunting rifles. They would not make a statement just send me the embargo restriction. My point is I am traveling with my own property. I am not exporting my firearms as I am bringing them back. The PH has offered me a model 70 in 375 H&H at no charge so I'm good. I am not going to let this stand, I am going to challenge this and see where it goes. I do not believe the government has the right to tell me what I can do outside of the Country as long as I am not breaking any laws.
