Default CIL Bullets, 308 Cal, 170gr ST - Bucket List Item

Hello there. This is my first posted thread so forgive me if I do something wrong.
I got these bullets a while back to use with my Winchester Model 1894 Rifle in 30-30 Win. I want to hunt deer with this rifle, open sights, using these bullets (bucket list item).
I am making this post to ask if anyone has any experience with these bullets, if they are a good choice for deer and if anyone has a load worked up for them that I can use as a starting point.
Thanks ahead of time for your comments

Nothing at all wrong with using those bullets for deer. That's what they were made for.

Sabre tip...some older, expirienced members claim it was one of the better bullets at the time and would still use it today. I have a box of cil ammo with sabre tips, i'm saving them for a cougar that frequents my cabin

Those are the old original Dominion "Kling Core" soft points with a plastic cap instead of a plain lead exposed soft point. Great bullet for deer.

I’ve got some Imperial and Dominion headstamp brass if you’d like it.
Free, if you come get it, just pm me.

3031, 4895, 4320, Benchmark, BLC2, H335, Varget and 748 are all good powders for the 30/30.

They were very popular back in the day, I think the blue tips were 150's and the yellow ones 170's.
I remember asking my father about the "notches" inn the bullets and he explained that they were used to stake the jacket to the bullet core, and that it seemed to work well.
My .311 caliber , 215 KKSP's work super and they are also staked .

Default Thanks all for the comments!

Yes, thanks so much for the comments and information.
I have qty 50 of these so I am going to get some Win 748 and work a load based on Pioneer2's suggestion.
I have plenty of brass and have loaded 30-30 Win in the past but did have some chambering issues. Not sure why. Putting these together will get me reacquainted with loading 30-30 Win.
My 1894 is a rifle with a 24" barrel manufactured in 1910. It has seen some use/abuse but I really like how it feels/looks.
Thanks again for your comments.
I hope to be at the range in the new year. I will try and post the results.

Default reloading

Full length size them for reliable feeding and chambering.
