Default Pigeon Lake Success

Drove quad out to today to last years most productive spot by silver beach.Fished in 11 fow and had lots of walleye action starting at 2.The jawjacker was going off constantly.Filled my B class tags in 15 minutes.Caught alot of big fish at last light. It was great to see such healthy fat fish.Only caught 1 C class fish.First time ever out there that I didnt see one pike on camera.Ice was 9 inches and there was alot more snow than i was expecting.Driving out there is gonna get ugly as soon as the ice gets thick enough.Hope others had just a good as day as i had.

That's a great day, thanks for sharing Racker. I have some B class tags needing to be filled, time to start up the auger and shake the dust off the ice fishing gear!!

What seemed to be the best lure for the walleye?

I always have great luck with a 3/8 white jig with a red eye tipped with a minnow. The hook I use is made by Matzuo. Called a sickle hook. Has way better hook set with the jawjacker and with jigging. I mixed it up yesterday while they were biting with a jigging rap, buckshot spoon, and a few others but nothing worked like the jig. I am sure as long as you keep a minnow on whatever youre using you will have success. Just from my experience on Pigeon they seem to like a still presentation better. Good luck and hope ya catch lots.

Good to hear that you were out at the point and the fish were active. I cannot get out till I get back from Saskatchewan on the 20th. Will have to try it then. How did the new flasher work? Will likely see you out there over the holidays at some point.

To be honest I like the camera more than the flasher when I’m in the tent. I’m still learning how to use the flasher though. Next outing I’m gonna have both electronics to have a comparison. Good luck to you when ya head out. Ice is still not too thick.Bring the skidoo if ya have one. I’m heading to Saskatchewan during the holidays. Lol.
