Default Michelin X-Ice

Are these tires any good??

The reason I ask is that my wife needs new tires on her 02 sunfire.

Yeah she is a little picky because years ago she hit the rubbarb in her 87 firebird (bald tires) and it scared the stink out of her...so..

If Michelin X-Ice arn't any good then what do you reccomend for a good winter tire??

Thumbs up They're good.

Had a set for winter on my last vehicle and just bought a set for my new one on Friday.

The X-Ice are really good, we have them on my wife's car. I used to have some Toyo Observe Garit HT's on a car ( Passat Syncro Wagon) I had previous to my current truck and they were awesome. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.

I had them on a Jeep and they were useless. Google the tire and you will not find many great user reviews. If you need a really good winter tire and can afford a little more $$$ look at Nokian Hakkapeliitta. User reviews for the Nokian tires were very good.

The only winter tires to buy are the Bridgestone Blizzaks, we just put a set on our Infiniti FX 45 for the winter, my parents put them on their vehicles in the winter for the past 8-10 years. They are propabaly a little more money but in my mind are worth it.

I had arctic alpen's on my Jimmy, and I swear by them. For a car, you might want to consider the new goodyear triple treads. They are an all season, but are also rated as a winter tire.

I just put them on my dodge dakota and love them. I will likely put them on my wife's 2004 grand prix. They make a car version and an suv size.

A really good website I used as reference is www.tirerack.com a buddy who is a mechanic told me about it.

Back to tires... Do some checking on those triple treads. Fountain tire has a four for three sale on currently. I took advantage of it.

I wouldn't go with the Michelins if I were you. They are tested the southern U.S. in simulated winter conditions. A much better winter tire are Nokians; designed and tested in Finland under real winter conditions. I've used Nokians for three years and absolutely love them. (Btw I used to work for Kal-Tire which sells both and they recommend Nokians as well.) Hope I helped ya!

Jester, relax. Diver is top notch, one of the 'good guys' per say.

If you don't want to drop a ton of cash, look at Canadian Tire. I used to get a new set of Motomasters for my first little car every Christmas. This was back in NS where we got waayyyyy more snow than we do here. The tires worked great on my little '87 Dodge Colt. With speed, it cut enough track to get the other cars out of the yard, and the number of deer tossed in the trunk was well in the double digits.
