Default Taxidermy Recommendations?

Any recommendations for a good taxidermist in the Red Deer area? Also whats a fair price for a bear skin rug and defleshing a skull? have checked a few websites but its like shopping for a car, lots of promises and prices all over the map.

Is SC reasonably priced; I've been using the same guy for 20 years and although he does great work, he has priced himself out of my leage;just under a thousnd dollars for a deer mount. (maybe this is the going rate?)

I think I know who you are talking about. Some buddies have had work done by her and were very happy. I can't remember what it was called. Seems to me it is a bit of a wait but they recommended her to me.

K&B, I don't get why you say BUT she was in a wheelchair. Do you have a problem with disabled people? My fish taxidermist is also in a wheelchair, he does just as good of work as anyone else. Not meaning to attack you but it looks to me like you are discrimnating amongst disabled persons.

where in the world did you see that I had a problem with it. People were talking about a lady taxidermist but didnt mention that she might of been in a wheelchair, so I didnt know if there was two local ladies around that do taxidermy or if that was the same lady.
You shouldnt judge people so FAST.
I never made my post look like it was discrrimating. AT ALL for petes sake.
Any one else think I was discrimnation against disabled persons??

My apologies then. Just the way I read it, it struck me as disrespectful. Your lovely private message cleared things up.

My favourite is Povl Munksgaard of Mountainview Taxidermy in Olds. They don't come any better. But he's Danish.

People tend to focous on what's the most obvious. Not being rude intentionally it's just what indentifies the subject.[unique] Don't know about you ,but the first thing I notice about the women on the beach at Sylvan is their brains! All kidding aside if a taxidermist does exceptional work HIRE E'M/HER.......I'm Scotch!I want my money's worth....................Harold

Hey Glock, Marco at Sugar Creek does excellent work at a very fair price. He is located right in Red Deer and right now his turn around times are great. I've always hated waiting so long to get something back that I forgot I got it! I've used his studio for the last 10-12 yrs and have always liked his work. I've found him to be always striving to be better and using new tecniques to bring lifelikness to his work. He's away on a bear hunt thru the next week but soon as he's back you should go check out his studio. His work will speak for itself.
