Default Rut?

Coyotes don't rut.
Rut is a term utilized for the ungulate family.
Coyotes typically breed around the 3rd week of February.
Gestation for dogs is 63 days.

It seems a little early around here but I caught a female in heat a couple of days ago. I haven’t noticed more coyotes cruising or pairing up but I guess that mating season has begun.

I agree with Dave, coyotes very active in last two weeks of January in my area of the woods, however may be the over active boys hoping girls will like them.

When a Coyote's privates become a bit swollen and there is a different color discharged people assume they are breeding.
No not really. The proestrus is relatively long at 5 to 9 days, while the estrus may last 4 to 13 days.
Bonding of male and females commence a month or two in advace.
I'm sticking with 3rd week of February.

The female that I caught had a thin, runny bloodlike discharge from her vagina. Would that not be a sign that she is in heat or soon will be. I agree though, the mating season around here is usually mid February.

coyotes start dating in middle of February around Valentines day you will notice an increase in empty candy and chocolate boxes on the gravel roads.

maybe you're the only one who thinks someone said 'breeding'....I read 'pairing up', and that some of us have noted bloody discharge out of some females. sounds like mating behaviour to me, but guess you can split some more hairs if you wish.
