Default Firearm classification

I tried google but no help.

Is there an online resource that lists firearms and their classification or that you could enter a make and model and see the classification?

Thanks.

It’s called the FRT.( Fire Arms Reference Tables)
It’s controlled by the RC’s, and only select individuals have copies.
For new guns to be added the Lab Rats at the RCMP get to designate the classification, and we get fed the results.

If you have a specific firearm to evaluate, you need to find a verifier.

Some are classified prohibited in the criminal code/ firearms act(can’t remember which), the rest by description.

But, Dick is right, the actual list of firearms in Canada is only accessible to the RCMP and firearm verifiers.

If it's a common make / model we will probably know the classification . . .

This FRT policy has always baffled me,why all the secrecy?
What about invoking FIA?
Ridiculous that there’s not a publicly accessible database to look up the FRT for any firearm one wishes,if even just out of curiosity.

I know one, but his accreditation is attached to a museum, so I’m not sure if he can do it outside of work.

I’ll see if I can get ahold of him this weekend and find out.
