Throttle monkey nailed it. The AR platform. Is what has maded the 6.5 CM. Its a good cartridge, and its a 6.5! But there are tons of good cartridges. Its splitting hairs. The us market for AR platform's is huge. The marketing monster took over and everyones got to buy one. Its much better than the WSM craze!

Action length is a huge plus for some, you are absolutely right. My beater 6.5 is a T3 so I'm stuck with the same action length regardless :|

I think some of the 6.5x55 shooters just see the creedmoor as unoriginal or gimmicky. People have been loading the 6.5x55 hot for over 50 years so the only real difference with the creedmoor is about 100 fps slower (which is still leaps and bounds ahead of most factory 6.5x55 ammo) and it fits in a short action.

The creedmoor does turn my crank big time in a non restricted semiauto like the ATRS modern hunter or NEA 102 though, but I'm still tempted by the 260 in one of those rifles due to brass availability (308 brass is everywhere if you need to make some in a pinch).

Either way you can't go wrong with a 6.5 of any flavour imho.
