Default RFMA Question

For you guys that own one or anybody that can answer this . . . If private land falls inside the boundary of an RFMA is the owner of said RFMA the only one who is allowed to trap it or can a person with a res licence (with permission of course) trap it?

The rmfa holder would also require permission for the private land.

No. Any leased land (grazing leases) that falls under a RMFA can only be trapped by the RMFA holder. On my old line any land that was private was not considered part of a RMFA anymore.

I will also add that the lease holder has no say in what or how you trap after the livestock have been removed for the year. Up here they are out by Nov. 1

Would he not have to be signed on as a junior?

No,as deeded land is not included in RFMA though it may be within the borders of one.

Thanks tork I kinda figured that was the case. I have trapped marten on private land that borders leased crown land. I did consider it apart of the rfma. Thanks for the clarification

No worries sir. I have ran into a couple residents that were snaring coyotes on grazing leases up here that fell on my old line. They were local farmers so I never made that much stink about it, just informed them of the law and they pulled out.
