Default Montana fly fishing

Anyone ever fly fish down in Montana? I will be heading to the kalispell area and was wondering if anyone could recommend any rivers near enough to make a day trip out of maybe chasing some bulls!

Thanks in advance,

Spencer

Exclamation Bull Trout

Check your regs before you fish as Bulls are protected in most water-ways in Montana and if you target them expect the same from the COs.... ie do not fish 9 inch articulated streamers

Read up on the catch cards so I'll be grabbing one of those from the office in kalispell for a particular water way. Thanks

I do about 3-5 trips per year. Pm me and let me know what rivers you are thinking and I will tell you what I know - they all fish quite differently depending on the time of year.

Cheers

Make sure you check which bodies of water have "hoot owl" reatrictions down there too. Because of the hot temperatures, some streams you can only fish from 7am-2pm

You're going to have a hard time fishing for bulls in Montana. I know of only one river, the south fork of the Flathead, where you can fish for them and I believe its season is now closed. Check the regs.

Please remember to clean(disinfect) your boots and waders before you return or fish in Alberta. Whirling disease is rampant in montana.

Good luck with Bulls...most of the areas are closed....
Fishing in Glacier National Park is free btw...just careful to check which streams are closed...I picked up some regs from the park last friday on my way through..pm me if you want me to scan them for you.
