Enjoy the wing all, as I am stuck here on the very east coast with these "little run-about" for the next week.

Hey boys and girls...

I totally forgot that August was already upon us until Keith texted me asking if we were doing wings tonight. I said no...and I happen to be working tonight anyway.

It is mid-summer and people are busy....but we will give it a go for next Wednesday, Aug. 9th

I have already confirmed the date with the fine people at the Hose & Hound

Same time, same place...see ya there!

I'm interested but I might still be busy closing a quote for my largest job to date. If I do show my fingernails might well be gnawed extremely short

My first ever Colonoscopy Thursday so it's a no go for us this month.
Looking forward to the excessive amounts of salty, chalky horrible tasting laxative I get to drink (instead of beer) and then spending the next 12 hours next to the toilet, being on a clear fluid diet for 24 hours ending with the insertion of a camera on a flexible probe into my arse.
Hade to postpone the appointment this spring because of our annual fishing trip so I better make this one.

Have one.......make that a couple for me!!

Thanks for the details, Ken....will there be video of the event that you can share next month?

That would be super...

Well...enjoy the probing! See ya next month...hahaha

I for one appreciate that you took me fishing instead of going to your appointment last spring. The things we do for our friends...

Default Something a little different!

Now...I don't know how many of you will make the trip out there, but a bunch of us decided to try a different location for a few reasons...

-wings are very good here (breaded or naked)
-many flavours to choose from.
-prices are very good here.
-live music as well.

soooo....this month, we will be meeting at:

The Venue
113 Railway St W,

Cochrane, AB

Sept 13th.

Shoot for 6:30 to give extra time for the drive, but some of us may go earlier. Hope you can make it! Next month we can try someplace else.

Sounds great.......have to take my Mom to the Dr in Calgary tomorrow and then drive her back home to Sundre before I would come. Sherry is away with work and may be coming out for the night tomorrow so I wouldn't make it then for sure.
Have a great time if I miss this one.

How were the wings at The Venue? (Dean, you are probably biased, and not allowed to comment.)

We thought they were a lot better than the hose. The place if you have never been is the old small town bar with a couple cowboys playing tunes all night. Place was jam packed and streets full of cars when we got there. Wife paid the bill and her eyes lit up at how much less it was than at the Hose considering we had the same as usual.
I suggested another place in Calgary I heard about when Dean and I were fishing on Saturday. Maybe going to check it out.
I suggested if the Cochrane drive is an issue for some we could do one one month and there the next. We didn't mind and we come from south Cowtown but would also like the perfect place too.

Ken

I enjoy the wings at the Venue. Great pub, in my mind better for the money. Don't worry Dean, I'll say it for you

Hahaha...glad you did!

I guess it was just a busy month with most of the regulars busy with work, hunting, or personal stuff. But I would like to do the Venue again...the reasons are exactly what Ken stated. Good wings, cheap drinks and live entertainment that changes every week.

It just seems to me that I have noticed the quality has declined at the Hose since the reno...and the prices have gone up too.

So I am totally open to suggestions for places to go...waiting for Ken's recon report on this other place. Other places that I know are good: The Black Bull pub just off Deerfoot and 64th ave in the north, of course Limericks in the south, and a place that has a great rep for wings but not the most ideal location: Mug Shotz.

Great resource:

http://www.mikerschuster.com/wings.html

take a look and pick one you like. We can rotate it around and try a few different places.

As a guy that has travelled to many a wing spot in the city, I've experienced many a different place.

The black bull is a nice pub, but there's nothing special about the wings.
Mug Shotz has the tastiest wings in the city, but also pricey and an odd location.
Limericks is alright.
The shark club is a decent spot, with good wings.
Scotsman's Well in the NW, good wings and a nice place.
My favourite is swigs in cedarbrae, but not the easiest spot to get to.

I know I'm not one of the regulars to the classic evening out, but I do enjoy it when I can get there.
