Mercury Platinum upgrade - worth it?
So I bought my boat last year and it came with a 5 year Gold Protection package from Mercury, so covered till 2021. I just got a couple letters in the mail offering me upgrades to Platinum Protection plan for both my motors (150 4S and 9.9 ProKicker).
The main difference appears to be coverage of ignition electronics as well as instruments and fuel injectors/pumps (covered on Platinum and not on Gold).
Cost is $31.50 for 9.9 and $194.25 for 150 (CAD $). Can also add up to 3 more years of coverage for $220.50 and $1328.25.
I'm thinking the upgrade might be worth it, but probably not the extra years. Anyone deal with this themselves? Is it worth it or just a money grab?
Thanks in advance.

I would do it, I never have had any mail or emails from mercury before. Did you sign up for it online or did the dealership do it for you? I had Lund send me a hat in the mail after I bought my boat and I know I never signed up for that.
