Default New rangefinder time

My Leica 900 rangefinder just quit on me. I’m not sure how old it is, but I bought it at wholesale sports. I guess that means it’s time to buy a new one. I would like to get something that ranges easily out to 1000 yards or more. Any suggestions? I’m looking for decent quality, but not sure I need all the gadgets. Also, I mostly bowhunt, so that needs to be a consideration.
Any ideas? Where to look to buy?

Default Contact leica

I have found them very easy to deal with. Most Leica optic products have 30 year warrenty. I inquired about lens caps on binoculars i bought used and they were sent free from usa in 5 days

That was a good price so I bought it. Thanks for the heads up. It will replace my LRF that’s very old but still going strong.

OP, buy another Leica.

Pretty hard to beat the Leica RF's . Have had a Leica 1000 forever and it works perfect, as accurate as day one.

Get hold of Lieca and send them yours to fix. They are absolutely excellent to deal with. They fixed my ten year old Duovids in 3 weeks at no charge and they are back to working perfect. Have owned many RFs, none come close to Lieca for glass quality. Use mine as a range finder and monocular. Saves carrying Binos.

I checked them out. I think it’s a lesser model, but thank you.

At that time of my alleged faux pas the OP had asked an open, blanket question for new rangefinder suggestions. No information given for brand preference, budget, required features, specific model or timeline on when he was buying. Absolutely ZERO indication he was actively shopping for a Leica in that price range.

That particular post with the embedded link to a sale was seven hours old, on an open forum. It was linked to a public website for an item that was available for anyone to buy from anywhere in the world…

The mental gymnastics required to associate his request with dibs on that specific sale are significant. Enough that perhaps your user name fits your personality.

Had the OP read similar to this; “I’m looking to replace my broken Leica with a new Leica. Has anyone seen any sales lately?” Then I would have agreed with your reliably incorrect opinion.

After 15 years here on this site, I assumed we were a community of like minded outdoorsmen and I took the liberty of snapping it up because I do need a new Leica. Rest assured, I’ll put it to good use. Unfortunately, it was the last one at that store so if the OP decided he wants one too, he’s still looking… Such is life.

McBains Camera is a Leica dealer. I had a buddy who worked there who sent my binoculars back to Leica for repair. If you contact them they may send your RF back for you or at least give you the address of the repair facility to send them to. I will look tomorrow and see if I kept a record of the repair places address when they sent the binos back to me.

Update Found it in my Email files from Dec 2021. I would call McBains then Leica.

Thanks, Dean, I’m going to see if I can find any obvious problems with the one I have and if I can’t get it fixed, I’ll send it out right away. I just need something for an upcoming hunt and the new one won’t arrive in time.

A battery lasts so darn long in these we forget to replace them. When the battery goes, there is usually no warning, Ten to one, a new battery and it will fire right up. If the display lights up but you get no range, check the lens on lazer for a film of dirt etc. Even heavy finger prints can mess with it.
