trap confusion

I am a little confused with regards to the fic tested traps. Is it mandatory that one use one of the specific brands listed per species or is a similar trap of equal size adequate. Just want to make sure I do things correctly. Are those listed traps the only ones allowed for said animal?

If you can get the Trappers mag, there is some info. there that might help you.. PM sent....
Some of the cheap traps, out of the States, have not and will not be certified. I think they have enough sales of their traps down there and won't spend the money for testing , just to sell them to the canucks..
