A buddy went in a couple weeks ago and fished the morning, no bites...no fish, no other fishermen on the lake....

I was up and sledded in last February. Small pike and a few 4" perch. Haven't bothered going up this year.

I was last up there 3 years ago and it was dead. Pretty surprising cause it's a pretty deep lake.

If your talking the backwoods lake north of Westlock. Neat little lake, we fished it all day a few years back. Did not catch anything. And yes, it was pretty deep for not being that wide. Looks like a lake that could have some nice fish.

It looks deep on google maps. Accessable with truck this year?

We drove to the edge and sledded on so we could move around easily. This was years ago. If i remember right, the lake access has a bit of a slope to go down to access the lake. I'm sure someone can give a more recent update.

If you go north from Francis Lake to the dead end, I thought you could get onto the creek and go up to Banana????

Other way is behind the pump house on the cut line.

The trail in from the pump house isn't bad most years but you would have a terrible time getting onto the lake. It's a pretty sharp drop. There is also a groomed skidoo run there with a warming shack so maybe park out on the main trail and walk in. There are lots of sledders coming through there and likely a truck parked right at the lake would pretty much block the narrow trail through. If anyone plans on going take a sled or a quad. It's a long narrow lake.

It is a very sparse fishery. I would hesitate to call the pike hammer handles....more like cigars. Perch were teeny. Big heads and tiny body almost look like sculpins lol.

Be carefull there,
We went on the lake 4 years ago with a mid size truck right at the skidoo access near Francis and almost lost the truck...
The driver side of the truck went through front and back wheels, we were hanging on the side off of skid plate...
We got pulled out 4 hours later , In the mean time while waiting for a friend to show up with his truck to pull us out I drilled a couple of holes and fished for 3 hours i caught some 4" perch and a small pike... once I drill a hole there was shrimp coming right out of the hole....the lake is full of feed and vegetation, it was very deep right off the bat we had over 30ft depth...

Tons of shrimp.. Sounds like a pretty good lake with good feed for fish
That sounds pretty sketchy, we would take skidoos or quad I think if ever tried that lake. Not worth risking the vehicle.
