Default Canmore - Bow River...need advice

Hi there!

I'm thinking of possible going fishing tomorrow and trying out the Bow River in Canmore.
I know there is no bait allowed and that it is a catch and release zone, but nothing else...

Would anyone be able to give me some advice as to what spinners and lures to use in order to maximize my chances?..any advice would be helpful!

Cheers,

Teo

There is a store called Wapiti Sports in Canmore - check out their website for a fishing report, and I'm sure if you stopped in they could give you some advise on what to use.

It's a hard fishery during the winter...fished it countless hours over the years during the winter and only pulled out one whitefish

Greetings!

I went but...was very unprepared. I didn't get any gloves and within 30 minutes I had to retreat as I couldn't move my fingers.

Anyways...I noticed that the area right above the pedestrian bridge is quite shallow so I was wondering if there are any tips and tricks I can use to maximize my chances?

Also, I am wondering if there are deeper spots upstream within walking distance?

Cheers,

Upstream of the pedestrian bridge is the 'engine bridge'. It has a deep pool directly below it, that is the most popular fishing hole in the immediate area.
stay on the 'downtown' side of the river and follow the main footpath about a km upstream.

Thank you!

I will give that area a try on my days off and will post a report
