Default Where are the pearch biting?

Looking at bringing the boy and my gal out ice fishing this weekend. Does anyone have any idea where the pearch are biting, with in about 2 - 2.5 hours of Edmonton?

To be honest they usually bite the sharp part of the hook, sometimes I find you have to twist your line to direct the hook into their mouth, otherwise they bite the other side.

Been lots of perch coming out of Gull. Not awesome perch, but perch none-the-less.

Cheers

Just sayin......I saw about 8 perch all over 12 inches on the ice on Lesser Slave recently......

And a whole bucket full a few days before that. Just sayin.

Default Perch

half moon lake north of bonnacord. Average size 6-8 inches with lots of little guys. Maybe the odd big one. Great time for kids and easy to get too. Further north try baptise of faucett for larger perch. Best spot for size head to slave.

I fished both halfmoon and fawcett this year. Lots of little perch in halfmoon, almost none 10" or over which is what I consider a keeper. Fawcett was even worse, 2 perch all day and both were 3-4".

My next trip north will be either to slave or around lac la biche.

You can drive anywhere on the lake no problem, my friend was out with his car.

There are tons of little perch, they'll rob your maggots quick. Use an eyeball or something that's harder to steel.

We were using chartreuse, yellow, white, they were all working. The bite was slow so I walked out to the middle of the lake and caught about 10 perch before I was able to get my hook to the bottom of the lake, and they were bigger than the average size, probably around 8 inches.
