Need a advice on buying a quad

Hi guys! My friends grandfather is selling his quad 2006 Suzuki king 700.
It has 1550km and 151h .
I have never owned a quad before and don’t know what would be the fair price. How much do you gays think the quad is worth ?

I had a 2005 700 king quad. I wouldn’t buy another. I had to carry a handful of push pins with me every time I went for a ride to keep the plastic on. The rubbers in the motor mounts get compressed and need to changed every couple of years. The only used quad I would buy would be a Honda.

At the right price that Suzuki would be a good option. I could see paying maybe $2000 for it.

I’m a Yamaha/ Honda fan. Have a few buds that put on serious miles with their Suzuki’s with no problem. if as pampered and low mileage . In this market i could easily see him able to get $4k. Depends on what kind of deal you think you can get with family and friends discount. Take a look what $4k gets you, junk literally

Would definitely buy a Suzuki over a Honda. Have owned a number of Suzuki’s but never a 700 king quad. If it’s as good as the rest of em I wouldn’t hesitate to pay 4 grand for it. Good luck!

The main issue I've seen with Suzuki 700s is the battery tends to have a drain on it. Over winter or any long time without riding it, you definitely want to pull the negative battery lead at least otherwise it'll go dead pretty soon.

Other than that no complaints with them, and 4k sounds like a pretty fair deal!

Well Honda all the way with a quad but not the the question so 2-4K depending on condition and accessories.

I would take a Suzuki or Yamaha quad over a Honda all day everyday!

My current quad is a 2019 Suzuki Kingquad 750. I have put thousands of kilometres whilst hunting and exploring on the 2 Suzuki’s I have owned and other than regular maintenance, never an issue with either of them.

For the OP, $3-4000 be a fair price for that quad in good shape.

Maybe that’s why it has low mileage.

Just to be clear, I don't trail ride for fun, or go bombing around on a quad. I value reliability and work function like dragging a whole moose, plowing my driveway above all else so for me the Honda is the right choice. My 2000 foreman is also the last of the quads short enough to go in the back of my pickup with the canopy on. For fun riding that Suzuki would be a great quad, they are pretty reliable, and they are much easier to work on than Kawasaki or CanAm. For the right price, and for fun riding where the Suzuki rides way better than a Honda of the same vintage, I would buy the Suzuki.

New Honda is going to set you back at least 9,000 if you want independent suspension. You could ride the Suzuki for a lot of years for less than half that.

Manual....got two with the manual...still trying to find the clutch after 15 years of driving then

I'd say if you're just using it for trail riding and such get the auto, if you're doing any kind of work with it go with the manual. My buddy rides a Rubicon Deluxe (an old man's quad he says). Watching him cruise along with PS, auto and IRS, me and my sore old back are envious. But, when it's time to skid a critter out of the bush or other such work my 03 Foreman is our go to machine.

That is probably about the most succinct description of Honda old tech versus new I have ever seen.

Decent quad. Not miled out. You know the owner and therefore have an idea how it was rode and if it was maintained along the way or not. One of the safer buys. I’d pay 3-4k

I have a 07 KQ 700, the best thing I did was install a battery isolator. The factory tires blew, but that's no big deal. In all honesty I'm not the best guy to ask as mine has led a charmed life. It now has 500km on it lol

I have a 89 Honda 300, that is my little workhorse. It just won't quit, it is easy on fuel, super quiet, and just works. The Suzuki rides way better, has much more power, but that's it. I suspect the Honda will outlive it even though it gets all the miles.

If it starts and runs good I’d agree give him $4k. Put on a good set of tires and go enjoy it. When you wear it out then buy a new one. Nothing wrong with a Suzuki. One of the few companies still Japanese built.

I drive a Honda 420 rancher with manual shift

In repairs, i have spent $600 in 12 years.

Mileage wise, it has been from Edmonton to Istanbul, Turkey.

Obtaining a service manual is gold. You can do just about anything yourself.

I change oil twice a year. All the oil. If you ever have "loose shifting" on your pedal, there is one 10mm bolt on the bottom of the gear shift pedal. Tighten it.

Is the ride nicer on some other machines? Absolutely. Do I care? No. Im into reliability. I dont drive it hard, but I put the miles on obviously....

Id buy another one tomorrow.

A new 2022 honda 420 manual shift with a 2500lb winch will run you $10,350.00 I know because I just priced one out.

Two people have offered me $5000 for it.

My Suzuki 500 was best quad I ever owned. I skidded 2000 lb logs for building cabins on trapline, but need manual transmission to do that kind of heavy work
I would pay $4000 for quad you described if well taken care by owner.

This summer I bought a new Honda 520 Rubicon DCT. So it’s got irs, auto, and power steering. So far I really like it.

This fall my son bought a new Honda Rancher 420. Manual shift, no independent or power steering.

About a month ago him and I raced expecting the 520 to pull away from the 420 like nothing. That little 420 left mine in the dust.
