Can you shoot under extreme pressure
Police sniper takes out a man holding a knife to a woman's throat. My word I would be full of doubt doing that, hats off to him.

Exactly what Silvertip said, you need to be at the top of your game to make the SWAT team.
They do intense training to have the skills and mindset to make that shot.
For the robber-you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.....

Exactly, some people are capable of remaining calm, and not panicking, in situations that other people can't. I have known people that I have never seen panic, but they are by far the minority.

A man's got to know his limitations, most of us are too limited to perform that role

Realistic training, nets exceptional results.
Most people are shocked when they find out that the actual shooting part of a snipers training is often the shortest part of the course.
The portions of the training not involving shooting give the instructor cadre the opportunity to see what makes the candidate/student tick, and further asses how they will behave when put under stress.
Having known a few fellows who tried for military sniper training, I can say after doing all the field craft, compass work, and extended reconnaissance exercises, many just couldn’t make the cut, as the aptitude and mental focus portions eluded them. Only one fellow I knew made it, being the first reservist to be selected to Basic Recce Patrolman training and topping the course, btw., and finishing his career with JTF2 (allegidley) This fellow was a cut beyond while serving as a reserve infantryman, even at 17 yrs old.

Over the years have personally known only three people that I can acknowledge as actual CAF snipers , and all three have a different mindset from anyone else I have ever met , even though their personalities are all completely different from one another .
