My wife and I have been married 40 years now. We have never acknowledged this, um, holiday??? I guess you would call it.

For the past 5 or so years my wife and I have had a tradition of going to Shopper's together, picking out cards, giving em to each other, then putting them back on the shelf. $8 each or whatever for a card you'll read once is dumb so we just treat it like a library and go home, we have fun with it.

Just trust me on this. Even $50 flowers will mean a lot to them especially if been married for years. Surprise them and even other people that might be a lone. Women really ,really appreciate this stuff more than you can imagine

Show our girl how much you love her , don’t buy those over priced cheesy heart shaped candy boxes.
Give her the real thing, pull that Deer heart out of the freezer and cook her dinner. It’s healthier and chances are she will remember this Valentines more than any other.

30 bucks for a dozen roses that at best last a week, I like your way of thinking.

As I get wiser, I found:
Women don’t care about Valentine’s Day.
It’s more for the guy.

Treat her nice, make her feel special but don’t make a production of it.

She doesn't care about this particular day either. If I bought her flowers she would think I'm up to something (and wasting money on overpriced Valentine's Day flowers), if I bought her chocolates she would think I've gone senile (she has never liked chocolates).

Just another stupid Halmark day that they invented.

I had to go to Shoppers drugmart they had a dozen roses with dried up edges on the petals and looking wilted for $34.00.

Oh I've got the Gerbera Daisies coming for her. They say no we don't need to do anything...... yet when they are received, the smile means everything.

I bought my wife some flowers and a box of her favourite chocolates today for the first time in a few years. It was great to see her smile and even better was when she asked me “Ok. What did you buy or do?”

IncrediGirl appreciates the random “flowers for no reason” instead.

Today we had coffee and pastries at Mercato, and brought fancy doughnuts home for the kids. She’ll get a handmade card later today.

She doesn’t want me spending inflated prices on Hallmark Holidays.

It certainly pays to marry a Dutch girl!

That's brilliant. I hope you take your savings down to A&W after, grab a couple teen burgers and rootbeers. That would be double brilliant.

Taking the missus out in a double date to a show with another forum member. Should be a fun night.

I forgot all about it being Valentines Day, glad I read this. I still have time to go buy a roll of ribbon.

Last year we cooked up the three deer hearts for Valentines Day. It was awesome. Kids loved it and my wife did too. ;-)

I know it is late but this sentiment should be used on Valetine's day and every day.

For the members that have love in your life you are very fortunate. So it is very important that you have life in your love too.

Enjoy each and every moment and day you both have been blessed with. Treat each other like the first day you met.
