Default Nikon scopes....reviews

Any comments on the Nikon scopes? I'm looking for inexpensive 3x10 or 4x12. Suitable for a youth rifle for a few years (5ish). Will upgrade scope later if required. Rifle is a tikka 7mm-08. Thx

I have a monarch 3 on my 30-06, the only complaint I have with it is the circles on the BDC. They are good from 0-300 yards but going beyond that they take up to much of the target and you lose accuracy

bought a pro-staff for the wife's 7-08 in a 3-9. Works ok but the light gathering of the scope is the pits. A cheaper vortex bought about the same time turned out to be a better buy for us.

I've got a buckmaster 6-18x40 on my SPS Varmint .243Win, and the Pit Boss has a Monarch 3, 4-16x42 on his .260 Rem.

Both scopes track well, and have good clarity in their optics, hold zero without fault, and are good value.

I've had the same experience. Have a monarch 3 3-12x42 on a 30-06 and have zero complaints. Gathers light well. Clear. Easy to adjust. Holds zero. It's just a solid feeling and solid built scope. Purchased it while on sale last year and had a chance to hunt with it.

Purchased it with the same intention of installing a different scope at some point down the road but have decided to keep it right where it is. For the money I think it's a fantastic value. I also love Leupold and wouldn't hesitate to purchase another of either the Nikon or Leupold.

So far it's been a great experience with the monarch. Hoping it stays that way.

I bought a prostaff 5 (I think the number was) for my 7mm-08 for a budget built rifle. It worked amazing considering all my other glass is Leupold, the glass clarity is better then vortex in my opinion and tracked better when zeroing the scope then a vortex did. I told my brother to buy one instead of a vortex and he loves it's. Shoots 5" groups at 500 yards. I'll buy another Nikon any day without hesitation.

I've had good luck with the nikons. Have the monarch 3 in 2.5-10x42 and a 4-16: been happy with both although I do find the circles on the BDC reticle to be a bit too cumbersome for anything past about 400 yards. Would probably go for their mildot reticle next time.
Also have the Monarch 5 binos which I've been happy with. Good value for the money for the scopes and binos
Can't say the same about the Nikon range finders...
