Default Road to CVR

Hi all - thinking of finally hitting up CVR this weekend. Will be bringing my little nephew along.

From search results on AO and google it looks like the boat launch is at the SW end of the lake by the campground?

Is it a public launch or do they charge $15 like Sylvan Lake to launch?

Also, any tips/advice on where to stay away and where to fish? Heard lots of scary things about this lake, including epithet like sunken islands, prop killers, etc.

Thanks - any advice and what is producing is appreciated!

Free launch

Many hazards, hard to explain where they are, but you need to be cautious.

Cvr is where i go when I just want to catch fish, you won't have any problems finding and catching them there.

CVR has a lot of shallow spots that you need to watch out for. I've seen a few boats tag bottom. Strange to see someone standing beside their boat in knee deep water.....in the middle of the lake. Good fishing though.

If you go right down the middle it's fine for depth. If you start towards either bank then do your due diligence. There are many spots that get shallow fast.

Look up the bathymetry map to sort out the details on depth. With gps and a few trips it's no problem
