Default recoil question

For those of you that have shot the 375H&H how did you find the recoil?
I am interested in getting one but I wont bother if its not fun to shoot.
I dont know anyone with a 375 but if someone in the Red Deer area has one that would be willing to let me tag along to the range it would much appreciated.

Make sure you have a good stock on it. I don't find it much more than the 300 Win Mag with a heavy bullet and a hot load. Like any of the big bores, hold tight to the shoulder.

I live in Lacombe and have a 375 H & H the recoil is not all that bad,but its not a rifle a person wants to be shooting off a bench for hours on end.
Send me a pm,if we can arrange a time when our schedules match you can give it a try. I do work shift work, rotating 12 hours, but we should be able to arrange something

I also was a bit scared of it.
But I managed to bang off a box with no bad side effects.
I am used to the 300RUM though.. Perhaps that helped.

Put it this way - the H&H with a good stock feels like a .22 Mag compared to a .378 Weatherby! Heavier and hotter the load, the more it's noticeable, but never anything ridiculous. The H&H for what it can do is pretty well-mannered considering the class it's in...

The 375 H&H in a M70 is NOTHING compared to some of the lightweight 30 call magnums out there.
it is one of the magnum cartridges that i really like - should never had sold mine...

I shot a Ruger 375 and it damn near broke my nose when it bucked up. I regularly shoot a light 300WM (HS Precision Pro2000 Light) and the recoil of the 375 was ugly comparedly.

I have shot an old safari grade bolt action. The recoil was not bad. Just be prepared for it (but dont get flinchy).
I would wear a shoulder recoil pad for bench shooting.
