Default 349 - white tail locations?

Anyone have any decent locations in 349 for white tails? I really want to bag one there this year. I live a few hrs from there and am not familiar with crown land in the area.

Not sure where you live...but if you live ''a few hours away'' you more than likely live closer to much better whitetail country

It's a big WMU.

My advise though. Get out of you truck where there is cutlines ands pipelines and look.

I put on 5 km last weekend.

Every KM I walk in my area I learn more about the area.

8 trail cams and 20 tree stands help too.

drive along the gravel roads slowly with your truck. Stop and starts.
When you see an abundance of crows or ravens along the road, stop your truck, take the keys out of the ignition, get out, set up a chair, and wait. The deer will be nearby.

The reason I ask, is because I was in 349 a few years back and seen nothing. No sign, not even a rabbit.

And there are no deer in the bogs where I'm originally from

Spent a significant amount of time there a few years ago and saw very few signs of wildlife, song birds included. I was surprised. I would like to give it another go.

I have a trap line in that zone. Whitetail are few and far between. Not my recommendation for whitetail.

They are more in danger of extinction in there then the grizzly. Try by swan hills less hunters in the big circle on map and bigger deer

Swan hills is not great for white tails either. I might see one or two on a good week. Have gone over a month without seeing a deer. It's slim pickings. Winter kill over the past few years has been 100% in many areas, which is reasonable considering whit tail deer are not really native to most of the area.

Try sitting on a cutline is my suggestion. Look for game trails that look recently used.

I went north of swan hills this past weekend. Didnt see a living creature besides some squirrels.

Tracks in the more thick bush though.
