Default Wabamun Lake

Hi - Was thinking of taking the boat to Wabamun this weekend for some fishing as the weather is going to be great. I called the Wabaman RV and Marine and they closed up everything including their launch. The fella said he was unsure if the provincial park launch was open.

I tried called the PP and no answer.

Does anyone have a suggestion of where to launch on Saturday?

Drive right into town and use the launch at the town site. You will be the only one in the parking lot. Launch all to yourself.

The launch is free this time of year but no lower docks in place.

Enjoy the day.

I called the village office and the launch is closed this week for repairs. I was hoping to park the Trailer at the Marina for a few nights and enjoy the weekend but will need to go to the provincial park now. I just cant confirm if their launch is opened as no one will answer the phone or return my calls - the camp ground is first come first serve this time of year.

Provincial park launch is open as of yesterday. Docks are still in as well.

Was out the other day. Pp is open. Crazy amounts of whitefish spawning in the shallows, cool to drift over and watch. walleye and pike are hitting anything that looks like a minnow. Forgot my minnows, but I’d imagine they’d work best.

PP called me back today. They and the launch is open. Village said their launch might be open Saturday and to call Friday for update. Decided to take the trailer and will just stay at the PP Friday night and go fishing in the AM Saturday

Well... the three of us where there on the water from about 830am to 130pm. We managed to catch one friggen little Pike. Total! Tired everything. Lots of different spots. Different lures. Super frustrating as everyone else seems to have mucho success out at wabamum.

You need to be jigging with a minnow around 15 ft of water
The store off the town boat launch has them.

Was out two days ago and caught plenty of small and healthy walleye, and caught two very healthy pike. One was small, but the other was 8 pounds, thick and stocky, with great colour. Hands down the healthiest pike I’ve seen in a while! Maybe the future of Wabamun isn’t so dismal...
