Default Wolf wolf and more wolf

I recently got the chance to get up in the mountains on a 3 day 3 night high country mule deer hunt. Back packed right on the knees/timberline of the rockies. Unbelievable country. Could not have been more excited. But that excitement quickly ebbed as deer sign was sparse and old, wolf sign was prevalent and fresh.
One meadow/basin I sat and glassed an entire afternoon, didn’t see a thing. So the next morning I thought I’d give it one more shot as there was enough deer sign to give me hope. Come back into my spot to see wolf tracks like popcorn across the whole place. So I move on.
Spot 3 does, sat on them at 150 yards from 11am until dark hoping for mister buck. And that was it....3 does in 3 days of hours of glassing. It is hunting....but boy! Like I said, you really had to try to find fresh deer sign. However I practically tripped over fresh wolf sign anywhere I went.

you could let us wolf hunters know where you saw the sign so we could go in and get a few taken out of there!

Once they move in, they cover a lot of ground very thoroughly.

Always tough when wolves are around.

I knew the facts, that predators are really impacting herds, but this is the first I’ve really seen it. Pretty eye opening.
