Which type of set up / line should i use with my rod??

I want to know if i can exceed the line rating of the rod? Mine is 6 to 14 pounds rating but is it only for mono??. Can i go with 15 or 20 braid line? Or it will break the rod..?

Sorry i am new at fishing!! What would be the best set up for you for a uglystik elite rod 7 feet Medium and fast action? I planned to buy a penn battle 2 2500 reel (max drag of 12.5 pound) and put 10 pound line .. the thing is can i go more than that ? Would you go with a 3000 reel instead of 2500? 3000 reel have a 15 pound max drag. But rod line rate is 6 to 14.. it confuse me alot lol

I am looking for a good reel which can be use in saltwater as well but don't want to pay alot alot. For sure the rod would be a uglystik elite 7 feets medium fast action 2 pieces, that said, a 3000 reel is it to big and heavy for that?

I plan to fish some different kind of species, looking to have a set up good for overall...
