Default Bird hunting near Calgary

Hey there,

I’m planning on going on hunting for the first time on my own (I’ve gone a few years ago when I was younger with a family friend ) and I’m hoping to go for ducks geese and grouse . My plan for ducks and geese was most likely frank lake and then for grouse just drive back and forth dirt roads and hope for the best and if I’m really lucky see a pheasant. Just wondering if anyone had any tips or pointers to help out.
Thanks !!

I’ve hunted frank lake a couple times and had some good duck shoots.
It’s muddy as hell, you’ll need waders or a canoe.

Default Decoys?

I don’t have decoys or a call. Would it be worth investing in those. When I was younger I remember just hiding in the cat tails. Thanks!

You can hunt Frank by pass-shooting, but decoys usually help.

Frank is also a pheasant release site after the season opens on Oct. 15.

You can hunt roads for grouse, but I'd encourage you to get back in the bush, especially later in the season.
