Default opening day blowout

Drove from Dutch Creek to Calgary on the 15th. The Oldman river, Racehorse and Dutch creek are all major blowouts! Pekisko Creek and the Highwood River the same. With a forecast of rain for the next week in the Maycroft area, I doubt any of these waters will be fishable for at least 2 weeks.

I hear ya. Ride the quad a bit, buck up some deadfall, beers by fire, buddy takes his satellite so we can watch cup finals........ tough to beat.
The fishing would be added bonus!
I will probably resort to tossing some nymphs and streamers in a few deep pools on the Liv with low expectations. All the rain is welcome and should help for a few weeks down the road like you mentioned .

Anyone been around that area recently? River basin website shows the water has gone down significantly but it doesn’t tell you if it’s brown or not!

Just back yesterday . Spent 3 nights but no fishing. Woke friday to the white stuff on the ground!!! Oldman my the gap was raging!!!! The Liv was better but fast and no clarity. By sunday, of coarse the day I am leaving, it was clearing and I could see some rocks I did not see on thursday. Should be good to go in a few days.

The scary part is, it's still snowing in the mountains and some of the ski resorts are opening for the Long weekend..
Snow melt has not even started around Jasper...so expect the rivers to drop a little and then shoot back up , if and when we get some warm temps.
