Beauty!! Drove a cactus thorn right through a bull-hide boot into the ball of my foot. Used a pair of fencing pliers to pull it back out. Man did it bleed.

Still think they're pretty when they blossom out there in their natural environment!

Yup...pretty till you sink one to the bone, not sure if a bite from a rattlesnake is worse or a cactus needle fully imbedded in your knee or shin. They get infected and haunt you for weeks sometimes. I don't miss working down in cactus country one bit. Big difference from just getting kissed by a cactus to sinking one deep.

they really add to the bald azz prairie dont they! I love seeing them while I walk to the river plus the little red orchids and the other small flowers hiding in the grass. this year even the prairie grass is green (for now) so the flowers really add to the view. And remind you where to NOT sit

I really like the pink ones. There's a few of them in the farm's pasture. Mostly got the yellow ones though.

Desserts are beautiful places if you se them at the right times, but very short lived.

They sure are pretty from a distance. Lol

First buck I got in the Badlands I drove a cactus thorn into my thumb while dragging it up a coulie. Was pretty sure my thumb was going to explode for the next 6 hours.
