Default Shooting ranges and saying hi

Hello Everyone

My name is Antonio and i am new to the form and newish to hunting as well.
I have been duck/goose hunting for the last 3 seasons and have been loving every season of it.

I now have the bug to buy my first rifle and do some big game hunting as well. But before i go into the wild, i want to practice my shooting at a range.
I have done some research and have found some shooting ranges that are near Edmonton. But my biggest question to you guys is what is a great shooting ranges to go to that are near Edmonton.

Thank you and Hi to all

Sherwood Park is a nice range, but the membership is capped, and they aren't taking members. Camrose is only 100m, but we are taking members.

Just want to confirm... Are you living in Edmonton, or in the Greater Edmonton Area?

I live in edmonton.

Thank you for the responses. I have looked into CHAS and from the pictures i like their range. I am just wondering if their are other ranges the have that great of a distance and any reviwes from your guys/gals.

I looked at the range in sherwood park but i dont like the fact that it only goes out to 300m.

My goal is to get good up to 500m before i go out hunting.

What calibre and rifle are you planning for shooting out to 500m?

I have not yet bought my rifle but i am saving up money to buy a Sako A7 Roughtech pro in 7mm RM.

I have already bought a vortex PST gen 2, 3-15x44mm FFP scope.

I choose the 7mm RM because i want to do a little bit of long range shooting and hunting.

Don't run before your walk. Get your short range shooting established before you stretch it out. If you're looking to shoot out to 500, you might have to learn and understand a bit about wind reading...just saying.

Tofield has room and has a rifle range to 100m. Also an indoor handgun/rimfire range and a very good trap set up. Rates are $120 per year for a membership. 6 months probationary and then you can apply for full membership.

Sorry I should have been more clear. I am going to start off shooting at 100 yards(or less) and slowly move my way up to 500 yards. 500 is just what I want to shoot up to before I go hunting.
I have been doing research on windage and ballistics. But to me research is only good if I can apply it. Otherwise knowing and learning all this info without applying it is never going to get me to the 500 yard range.
