Default Pigeon Trapping

I need to know the best method for live trapping pigeons. What are your experiences, this may save me a lot of trial and error/learning the hard way.

thanks again,

I used to cover all exit holes but one and hang an old fishing net in front of the last hole and scare them out. Could catch 4 or 5 at a time.

Default Build one

Like this. I used chicken wire and a 2X2 frame mounted on a 1/2" sheet of plywood 18' X 24'. I made the swinging door out of old metal coat hangers. Put some bird seed in it and drop it somewhere you haver seen birds (most underpasses, cn rail tracks in Edmonton etc. I have had as many as a doz at a time. For fun put some nail polish on the claws of some you don't intend to shoot and see just how fast they end up back in the trap. I have trained 20 ikm from where I trap and caught the same birds the next day.

I bought a trap from margo supplies in high river. Its quite the pigeon condo. Im using crushed corn as bait. I was told to wire the doors open and allow them to get used to coming in and out. Once they are used to it (2-3 days) you engage it so that it does what it is supposed to.

Day 2, will engage it soon. Might post pics if I can figure out how.
