Default Black coyote?? Fur value?

I went out looking for a yote this morning, saw three in one bunch and one was pure black. I've never seen that before, I was a little leary to shoot at first as I was studying it intensely to make sure it wasn't a dog, by the time I figured out what it was it had crossed into property that I didn't have permission on.

After speaking to a couple of other local guys I found out that 2 black coyotes have already been taken within a couple miles of where I saw it this morning. I'm assuming they must have some dog in them......just was wondering if there was any fur value to these unique critters. I am going after this one big time, the tanned hide would sure make a great addition to my trophy room.

Next to no value to coy-dogs at auction. Most time, they won't even grade them. Prob best to do as you said and rug it for yourself, that's what I did.

Interesting post.

Seen a few down south over the years. Some are natural colour variations, some are from interbreeding with domestic dogs. In the dark dogs I have seen, the domestic crosses have stood out due to head shapes that were much different than the average coyote.

I saw a black fox south of Raymond. I heard someone mention there was a fox farm in the area a few decades back.

The black foxes are known as a Silver Fox.Some breeders do breed them.As for the black coyote,if you get it and don't want to sell it through the fur actuion, freeze it whole and PM me as long as there is any damage to it.
