No, going into ketosis for awhile will trim the weight quickly, but you cannot maintain it going forward or you will fail....You must make a lifestyle change will include some carbs....
Your state of being in ketosis will last so long and then you need to, like I said above, a lifestyle change which will include carbs, but limited...

I know this is kind of harsh, but I follow some KETO forums and people say on certain occasions it's OK to cheat on certain days when on KETO. That's like saying when you are in REHAB it's OK to have a cheat day..doesn't work

I have found in talking to people that are trying keto it is just to try to lose weight and not long term. Those of you that have stuck with it should be proud cause its not easy to stay on track.Again Im asking how on earth can you attain a proper keto diet with a family?Kids cant take carrots and a apple everyday for lunch like everyone else does.

Super easy honestly. For kids there are alot of keto substitutes for everyday foods. Endess recipes. My kids have lunches that other kids are jealous of at school lol.

Stay away from vegetables that are on the high side of the glycemic index.
Also do yourself a favour and buy a ketone/glucose monitor

I love this kind of stuff. You can’t buy discipline or commitment. It’s all within us though.
Too many people are worried about having “stuff” and spending too much time in this materialistic merry go round nowadays and not commiting to their health.
This is all very empowering and inspiring folks..

So where do you find one of those? How accurate are they? And what level/range does one want to be in?
Thanks

I have done a strict keto diet for Monday to Friday and carb loaded on Saturday and Sunday. But I have never been obese or had an issue with saying no to food. It worked well to put on muscle.

You want to be within 0.5 and 3 mmol/L)
You can buy them at Shoppers Drugmart, Amazon, Costco....

Also - the carb manager app works well for tracking your macros. Well worth the investment.

Thanks for the video. Kind of eye opening. Did some more research and I’m changing my views on calories in/calories out. My question to the Keto experts in here, if you go with a high fat, low carb diet but don’t necessarily keep carbs under 20g will you still lose weight? Or do you need to fully commit and get into Ketosis for your body to lose weight?

Some people can be in ketosis at 80 to 100 grams a day. Some need to be 20 and under. Everyone is different and we all have varying chemical makeup’s which dictate how we get into a ketogenic state..

I guess what I’m saying is, do I need to be in a Ketogenic state for Keto to work?Or can I follow a high fat/low carb diet and still lose weight if I get out of Ketosis?

20 and under for optimal health and results. Most true keto sites will never tell ypu to go over 20 a day

I've been eating keto for 2 years now, using the ketogains macros. I started eating keto for the health benefits and losing body fat was a nice side effect. I am now in better shape than i have ever been. I have annual physical exams and strength testing including body composition analyses so I am able to track my health fairly well. Every possible health indictor that I get tested on has improved since switching to keto along with losing almost 30 lbs of body fat and gaining 10 lbs of muscle. With that said, I also started a consistent weight lifting routine and I can't discount the effects that has had.
There are many different theories on the "best" way to implement a ketogenic diet. Some push for very high fat intake, moderate to low proein and low carbs while others push for lower fat intake, high protein and low carbs. With a little research, you will find the one thing they all have in common is carbohydrate restriciton witht the purpose of forcing your body into a state of ketosis. Everyone's macros will be different so there really is no "one size fits all" approach.
If anyone is interested in taking closer look, I would suggest doing some research and deciding for yourself which approach makes the most sense to you. Ketogains on Facebook/Reddit has some good information as a starting point. Books like "The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living" are also good.
One thing I can say after doing lots of research myself, is that optimal protein intake is critical to maintaing muscle mass. Losing weight can be a good thing if you are losing the right weight, nobody wants to be losing muscle mass along with body fat.
As has been stated above, gluconegenesis is a demand driven process and therefor eating "too much" protein will not kick you out of ketosis. Steak does not turn into cake no matter how much of it you eat.

I need to do some more research before I take this on. I want to lose 100-125lbs (for health and my upcoming wedding). I know a calorie restriction diet works. But from what i’ve been reading, if I limit my calories too much, my metabolic rate will also drop too much. Even if I stay at 1500 kcal/day my body will adjust to only needing 1500 kcal/day and it will not be enough to lose weight.
I naturally don’t eat a lot of carbs. No pasta. No real sweets. No sofa. No bread (unless I grab a wrap when on the road). I know I need to increase my calorie intake (I stay around 1500-1600) to keep my metabolic rate but I don’t know if I need to do it with a Keto Diet or if just naturally do a high fat/moderate protein/lower carb diet but still keep my calories restricted enough to lose weight.

Most of my research says basically forget about calories and just focus on keeping carbs as low as possible. If you are hungry, eat...< the general jist of it.

I’ve been eating Keto for about 4.5 months now. I weighed 265 pounds when I started. And I now weigh 216lbs. I feel amazing! I’ve dropped my blood pressure about 15-20 points on both the systolic and diastolic. I no longer suffer through heartburn, most of my aches and pains have disappeared. Cravings for sugar and carbs are pretty much gone. I also use intermittent fasting almost daily, and most days I have to force myself to eat my first meal. It’s not a “diet” it’s a lifestyle change. If you make sure you’re getting all the proper nutrients and minerals, you can eat this way forever. I plan to! I mean obviously there will be a day every so often when I may cheat. Like birthdays, or Christmas, etc. But I actually enjoy this way of eating much more than a standard North American diet!
