Default Custom Rod tubes

Anyone know where or how a guy would go about getting a custom rod tube built for a short little 4 piece creek rod?

Get some pvc pipe, proper end fittings, cut to size, glue and done. Decorate if you like

I wrapped mine with three different colors of yarn, used 1 1/2" pipe for 6'6" 3pc 3wt fiberglass I just finished building. Get some felt pads for furniture and glue them inside of end caps, this will cushion the rod. For a cloth bag I ripped up an old pillowcase with polka dots and use it as a wrap.

yup, PVC pipe if you're not worried about looks. I made custom length dual holders for my 5wt and 8wt. Cost me around $20.

I also use PVC, but to be specific, I use central vacuum tubing. You can buy cap ends, as well, to finish the job.

Much thinner, and much lighter, but still very rigid. True, it's not as strong, but it's tough enough as long as you don't step on it with your full weight.

Perfect if you want to hike in to a lake without a lot of extra weight.

My best friend owns a central vacuum shop, gonna have to check this vacuum piping.
Pvc 1 1/2" pipe is still lighter than most cases, 2" pipe might be about the same weight.

I want something that can take a hit, as I plan on travelling a bit with the rod in back of truck with camping gear, and firing it into a backpack. PVC/Vac tube might work, I'll look into it!

Golf club tubes.

Inexpensive and very light weight.

Check them out.

I bought one of these from WSS for $18. Telescoping, will fit any size rod. I cut it down to fit a 4 piece fly rod, glued closed cell foam in each end, and now have a light, strong case that I have taken overseas and also hiked with. it's half the weight of the rod cases that came with my fly rods, and more compact.

Make sure your rod case is bright then when you put it down you can find on the ground after.

You said a custom rod case.

I'd suggest Bob Cochrane of Calgary for a great leather case. See: http://www.robertcochrane.com

Or for the cases I use see: http://www.landmarkflyrodtubes.com

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Don,
those leather cases might be worth while when I get good at making rods, until than, I think I'll go after a PVC cheap job for now.

I'm undecided at the moment what to get, but the rods not quite done either. The honey-do list keeps delaying it....

What are you building?

I baptized my 3wt glass 6'6 3 on Saturday with a 16" brook and a 12" cutt. Found some fish holding spots finally. 6x tippet and rod doubled over, yay
Feels like I'm getting fish out a lot quicker than with my graphite 3wt. No fear of busting the tippet maybe?
