Default Who’s excited about May 15th?

I know I am, had everything ready to yesterday.
Truck ,boat ,gear
At least I thought I did but came home with a new reel, today,I really didn’t need,
Thankfully I have a rod here for it.

Woohoo typing this has killed a few minutes,
That much closer to Opening Day,

See you on the water.

I gotta say -- I think Alberta is missing out on an opportunity, with their "hard date" for season opener. Most places around the southern half of the province are May 8th or May 15th, regardless of which day of the week that happens to be. In Manitoba, it is always the Mother's Day Weekend. The southern half of the province opens on a Saturday, so families can get out and fish that weekend. I think having a hard date, which can fall middle of the week, as it did this year, is a mistake. Tourism Alberta/Alberta Conservation should think about making the "Opener" of open water season always on a weekend...

I like it the way it is. When it falls during the week = less people out.

My son was very excited too. We went out for a couple of hours and didn't catch anything either but it was sure a beautiful evening!
