Default Best place to get fluorocarbon

I order mine from the states. Look up Seagar Fluorocarbon. It is the best I have ever used, and I've tried several different kinds. I use 40 lb. test for pike leaders, and I have had excellent results.

I couldn't imagine putting a knot in 100# leader lol. The 40# I use is hard enough.

As others have mentioned I personally wouldn't use more then 40 lb for any species here in AB.

Maybe if you plan on catching tons of 20+ lb pike then bump up to 60 but otherwise I would stick with 40. Or use titanium leaders, I much prefer them over fluorocarbon for pike in the summer.

I used this in 50#, last year for pike. Not as heavy as you want but very good value.

I use 80lb or pike leaders - just need to tie using pliers and a little elbow grease.

Most of the regular fishing stores will have it on the shelf in the larger diameter rolls with 25-50 yards per roll for about $30-$40.

You can tie heavy fluoro with either an improved clinch or loop knot depending on which you prefer.

The trick with an improved clinch knot is to wrap it fewer times with larger diameter line. I use 6-7 wraps for lighter line, 5 wraps for 20 lb, 4 wraps for 40 lb and would probably use 3 wraps for 80 or 100 lb.

Rav take a look at figure 8 knot. 90% break strength and gives you a loop for free action and as a plus the tag is against the line. I have been using this for awhile with good success

I find the Canoe man knot to work the best with heavy flouro.
