Default Fancy Video Cable Scam

I've been noticing a new trend in the way retailers are up selling people on fancy cables and electronics accessories to pad their margins. This bothers me to no end so I thought I would post some info on what an acceptable cable really should cost, maybe save some people some of their Christmas bucks.

Looks like people have begun to understand that the "Premium" HDMI cables that were being pushed by the electronic retailers were a scam. I haven't had anyone try and push one on me in a while. I've been out to buy some new HDMI cables and a power cable recently and it looks to me like they are making up for that loss by trying to make house brand or generic cables more expensive.

There is no technical reason that a 6 foot HDMI cable should cost over $10. Ever.

Quick delivery, excellent products.

They come highly regarded (from the home theatre forums) for all audio/video wiring needs.

Before HDMI it was gold plated component video, or S video cables. Big rip-off.

Same here, although my buddy swears he can tell a difference between his and mine... I wouldn't want to admit it either if I was him lol

I bought into the sales pitch that a high priced cable is better than a cheap cable. It's all a myth. Cheap cables will produce the exact same picure and sound quality as an expensive cable.

Monoprice is a great website.
