Default Location Info..

On my 5 days off and would like to head out. Don't care if its with the fly rod or the ice fishing gear. Just looking for some information on a location that is not under 3 feet of flood ice or a stream that is open without ice covered banks. Just not real keen on having to pull the ever present Bow river shat paper fish off my hooks.

Get the trips in while you still can buddy! Birch is probably still iced-over (not sure) and I know Gull and Sylvan have a ton of ice.

And a ton of flood water as I can gather. Anyone know about Crows Nest? Banks ice free? Was asked by another member if I wanted to head down that way tomorrow?

I talked to someone in the pass today, a non-fisherwoman, and the word is it's melting fast. I imagine there will still be some snow and ice banks but it is improving daily.

Good luck.. Be sure to let us know how you did. I think I am going to buy a new fly rod and reel tomorrow. Maybe do hunt for a stream that dont have Bow TP floating down it.

Default Bow River

I haven't looked at the regs lately as I haven't gone in several years but we used to go to some nice little spots on the Bow river just a little bit on this side of Canmore. It used to be open along there and some decent fishing was always to be had when everything else was closed. If still open I could put you on to a few spots that were always good spots this time of year. What days are you off by the way? If you are off on the weekend I may be able to be talked into a day out on some water somewhere. Another place may be Clear lake. I heard a rumour that there was enough open along the shore for some casting. Not confirmed though.

Today was my first day off Ken. I dont go back till Monday morn. Lets make it happen. I know the stretch from Gap lake upstream well. But not sure on the dates.

CHUB
Is there really enough ice on Bullshead And I am sure that will be a zoo. As soon as the ice is off enough around shore i will be there with the fly rod however.

There is always some good brookie action waiting and the beaver opening if you want to go to caroline area.

I am pretty sure police and bullshead will be thick enough for the next week or more.

I hit the crow the last few weekends in a row and it was fine. The spots I hit had barely any ice on the banks. I was hoping to get out again this weekend but it isn't looking to hopeful anymore.

I don't know the ice conditions to-day but if it is open, you will love it.

Because the people that he wants to head out for brookies with know exactly what he is talking about.

I know where it is but have yet to go check it out. Maybe I will work my way up there sometime this summer and cruise around with the belly boat and see if I can pick up a few on the fly rod.

Default I am ok

I am ok with that too. I think Sunday would be better, especially for Will from yesterdays email here at work. As long as everyone is cool to walk in if the road sucks I would be game for that.

Yes I stole this info but it was posted publicly so what the heck?

If you guys are going to be in that next of the woods definitely check out the Raven. All open water and you'll get lots of species:

I have seen this site before; It claims to have great knowledge of the fish in the lakes throughout Alberta but the facts are way off. Bluegill and Largemouth in Central Alberta? I don't think so.
