What a shame that these people rule our wildlife and decision making.
I’m still curious what the conditions are… like I said at the beginning… I know they are going to change from what was listed before the auction happened. Which directly influences the value of these hunts and how much people were willing to spend on them.

Takes cash or other incentive directly to the aep to get that kind of action. Something definitely fishy with what has happened.

Apos and aep need to be looked at here. Both stink.

Albertas resources were just sold with no accountability or reasoning. As you said, the conditions will change based on apos lobbying ability which will change the value of those tags. Season dates, locations, etc.

This was posted in AFGA Facebook page last night, no auction tags for Alberta residents. I am beyond frustrated with how the MSL are being handled.

I think that since there is no auction tag, AEP needs to withdraw the auction tag that was sold.

Please see the following statement from Victor Benz – President AFGA.
"AFGA has now finally received from AEP the required information relating to the tags for all three of the new Minister’s Special License species (Pronghorn, Moose, and Merriam’s Turkey). However, AGLC has confirmed they require a minimum 60-day process to provide approval for a raffle license, leading to an earliest possible date to start the raffle of September 1, 2022. Allowing the typical 6-month raffle period puts any possible draw date well after the fall 2022 season for both the moose and the pronghorn MSL tags.
Therefore, the AFGA has only submitted an AGLC application for the two 2023 Merriam Turkey MSL tags because of the difference in hunting seasons. These 2023 Turkey tags will be drawn in the 1st quarter of 2023 and will be in effect for the period of May 1 2023 through to April 30, 2024.
The lengthy re-examination process for all the Minister’s Special License tags undertaken by the Alberta Government has been a challenging process for all parties involved and unfortunately completed too late for the new MSL tags to be offered to Albertans by raffle for the 2022 fall big game season."
If you have any questions/queries/concerns regarding this, please contact Victor Benz via email to president@afga.org

Dear Honorable Minister,

I want to be very clear that I would like a reply to my question.

Since there will not be a raffle tag for Alberta residents in 2022 for a Moose or Antelop Minister Special License, will APOS & AEP be withdrawing the sale of the Minister Special License that sold at the banquet for Mid West Chapter Wild Sheep Foundation?

Here is the new background information has come to light.
In a response from ab.wildlife@gov.ab.ca on July 6, 2022, part 2, subsection "D" says " Licenses will be made available for elk, mule deer, Bighorn sheep, pronghorn, moose and turkey: 1 each for auction and 1 each for raffle."

A recent post on the Alberta Fish and Game Association Facebook says that there will not be a tag available for Moose or Antelope in 2022 because AEP did not get them the conditions in time and AGLC requires 60 days to get a lottery license.

As an Alberta resident, I demand that the Minister Special Licenses for Moose and Turkey sold at auction for the 2022 hunting season be with drawn or pushed over to 2023.

Regards,

AGLC should be able to fast track this
Waiting 60 days for a raffle is like waiting 60 days for draws to be processed
The framework is already in place
We came up with a vaccine for covid faster than what it takes to process draws and raffles (joking)
The raffles dont need to be as long as they are anyways
As soon as the big bundles are sold, sales take a nose dive
Double the amount of tickets available to purchase per day
Buy as many as you want after a week
Close sales after 2 weeks
Draw it the next day

This is far better than sitting on your thumbs doing nothing

Thanks for all your work on this Kyle. I appreciate you taking the time to share this within the community. I'll be sending a similar e-mail to the list you provided. I'm extremely disappointed to see this process, and these tags, so poorly managed.

I guess the "Minister of Red Tape Reduction" hasn't made a pass through the Alberta Gambling and Liquor Commission yet. I am going to send him an email to ask why it takes this long to get a raffle permit.

Today is the day that 3 lucky people find out how lucky they are, and we learn the complete and final rules for how much the Government, APOS, AEP, etc all screwed over the residents for these auctions and raffles.

Good luck to all that bought tickets.

Just got my outdoor canada mag that explained what is going on. APOS is going to be running the show? NOT an improvement!! Don't trust those knuckleheads in the least!

Kyle, is there anything you know of that we can do to get this changed?

Alberta fish and game did a terrible job managing these
The first 3 auction tags that apos had were just as bad

I Wonder how the mcmahons have done so far with the tags

You get to hunt later than everyone else if you have the ministers tag

It’s part of the reason why you want to have the tag

My understanding from the article was that apos was running auctions. Local n4p would be running raffles, such as awsf running the sheep raffle.

Yea and it's still a full curl zone!! I guess it's kinda like when you have to hire a guide to kill a barely legal Ram.

How much money did they raise from these raffles?
Very little

If it wasn’t for tj schwanky they would have probably sold half the number of tickets

This doesn’t explain how they did a terrible job. Was it when it was changed that one person couldn’t buy all the tickets in one shot, or was it when it was changed that the one who bought the sheep tag that they could shoot what ever sized ram they wanted in the full curl zones. Before you spout off, I know it was the government that made the changes.

Guessing you don’t know Ram Crazy

He hunts full curl zone regularly.

He gets it done. And often.

Just what posts have you made that were useful. Why won't you answer my question about how fish and game did a terrible job with the tags.
