Default Bow shops in Alberta? New bow time

I am going to finally upgrade my bowtech and honestly I have not been to a bow shop nor done much for archery hunting in the last 3 years. I would like to get serious about it and upgrade the bow. What out there for bow shops? Im in central Alberta.

Which bow are you shooting? What are your plans for the new bow?

Not sure. I would have to go look. Its probably 8 years old. I plan to use it for strictly hunting. Spot and stalk muleys this fall.

Go to Jim Bows. The rest will fall into place.

I second this suggestion as being a good choice.

I was just at Jim bows yesterday and bought a new bow. Best bow shop experience I have ever had! You won't be disappointed!

If you don't mind driving a little ways out of town, Accurate Archery in Alberta beach is a great shop as well, Lawrence will have you shooting every bow in his shop. Pretty sure that's where I'm going for my next bow! I've only been to Jimbows the one time. Shop is nice, and the staff seem pretty knowledgeable, and willing to help out. They also carry Asat camo, which was my main reason for going to check them out. Good luck on your search. Let us know what you end up with!

I just bought my second Obsession Def Con M6 this year from Dane at OC archery in Airdrie. He sells APA and Expedition bows as well.

You might want to try out an Obsession, they make a pretty nice bow.

Thanks. I herd that from another member also. I am going to head in there today and give the obsessions a try out.

I always have at least two bows for hunting, and after buying a Def Con this February and shooting for a while, I got to really liking it so I just ordered a second one for backup. I tried out a pile of new bows this year from Mathews, Bowtech, Elite, Prime, Hoyt, and PSE's and liked the Obsession Def Con the best. I never did try the APA's though.

Default Obsession

Well I went and shot the def-con m6 and m7. Unreal! Supper smooth, quiet, no vibrations. Ran out of time to make a decision, but headed back on Thursday to pick one up, just trying to decide between the two. Will shoot them both on Thursday. I am leaning towards the M7 because I am only a 28" DL.

Ya, that's the impression I had after shooting them, that's why I bought two

I went with the M6, a little faster than the M7. The way I see it, I can shoot an M6 at 62# and get the same speed as the M7 at 70#. They say that a longer brace height makes for a more forgiving bow, but I've never noticed any difference. Another thing I noticed with the M6, after trying several different weights and lengths of stabilizers, I found I held the most steady without one. With the harmonic dampeners that are built in there really is no need for a stabilizer to dampen any vibration because there is none. Fast, smooth, quiet, and one of the best finishes on the market, it's not really a hard choice after you shoot one.

Good luck with your decision and post pics when you get it.

Long time ago, they only had the sharp peg on the first ones that were sent out, and they sent out new cams right to your door, no questions asked.

I sold my Hoyt Carbon Spyder to buy my first Obsession, then only after about a month I knew the Bowtech RPM 360 was going up for sale to make room for the next Obsession. Way more quiet and a nicer draw than the Hoyt CST, same IBO as my RPM 360 but almost 10fps faster in the real world. Once it's set up to hunt with its actually lighter than the Carbon Spyder because it doesn't need a stabilizer. I've gone through a bunch of bows over the past 10yrs, with at least one or a few from Mathews, PSE, Darton, Hoyt, Bowtech, and Bear, and so far the Obsession has been the best over all bow I've ever owned, no question.

Lol, I couldn't resist.

I have never heard of any cracking cams, and haven't had any issues. Are you referring to current models or past models?
