Going to head out again tomorrow. Haven’t decided if I want to drive 4 hours and fish for some bigger fish or stay closer to home
and maybe hit a few lakes. Will report back after the day is done!

Something different .... check this link out.

Sylvan Lake .... a 360° perspective from the lighthouse taken on Nov 11th by a local company called TD Aerials, still lots of open water.

I walked 100yards out onto chain lake today, ice was solid and black 2” under the snow, a small bit of flood ice around cracks. But I don’t recommend walking and fishing on 2” of ice unless you like swimming and cane save your own self.

Anywhere from 2-5” of ice on lac Ste Anne. Lots of frozen slush on top, but it was solid! Fishing on the other hand was slow... 3 walleye and a hammer handle! Now off to Cali for a week, then back to ice!

Wink Devils/Wabamun

5-5.5" at Devils near Onoway.....ventured out maybe 50m and it was consistent....tracks from more brave souls went a lot further out...water is really murky.
Wabamun in Moonlight bay had the same 5-5.5" all the way across.... fished in 6-7 feet of water...5 walleye and a pike...lost a few more in about an hour and a half.....great day for first outing of the season..

Was out Nov 16. Only about 2-3" but was pretty solid, no bites though.

Crowsnest is wide open. None of the lakes in SW AB are iced over. Temperatures have been mild and it has been windy here for quite a while...

Any ice forming at Beaver Mines? Hoping that next week's weather will speed things up. Thanks.

Haven't been there but I suspect there is zero ice. Went to Butcher yesterday...…….zero ice

Temperatures in Beaver Mines won't be building any ice soon. Coldest day in the next week is -3 and overnight -7

Thanks for shattering my dreams Newest forecast for next week (from Tuesday on) looks a little more promising.

Last I heard about Wabamun was that it iced over last Tuesday. Haven’t heard since.

6 - 8 inches on Snipe. Landed a few whites, with no other species spotted. First time out there.

Dang im itching to get out there!People set up shacks in Mulhurst so there must be fish in that shallower water.I will be pulling a sled out there as soon as i can.I just wish there was a closer spot to get on the ice at the point at silver beach.

There was 5" of ice on Black Nugget on Sunday. Had a pretty good day too:

I'm also excited to get back out on Pigeon but it may be a while yet.

Nice report! Thanks for sharing the interesting lure choices. Daphnia hey. I usually avoid trying to tie something that imitates that so it was good to read you reasoning for trying it.

Curious, how did you do overall? Lots caught that day?

Good luck this ice season to you.

Just left Lac Ste Anne. 6” of nice solid ice and a couple of walleye topside.

Thanks Snap! Daphnia imitations definitely aren't my first choice, especially when fly fishing. I did pretty well actually. I fished from around 9am to 1pm. Pretty steady action with about a dozen hooked and 8 to hand. My first was that 14" rainbow, I had another that size to the hole but lost it. The rest were all first year rainbows and surprisingly no Tiger trout.

I hope to spend some time at Sylvan this winter, maybe I will see ya out there!

Sounds good! I might just be tying some similar Daphnia flies based on that success
Hope to see you there!

Just left Lac la Nonne, and didn’t bother fishing. Roughly 1-2” of ice 50 feet out, and open water on the north end of the lake.

Lac Ste Anne was 6” again, and the bite was slow.

Try an olive 52 buick fly. Wrap one wrap of copper wire to weight it.
