Reck R12 .22 issue, who for handgun smith?
I acquired two Reck R12’s, one is a single shot and one is a 6 shooter, in a horse trade deal. Turns out the guy in BC sent me the one 6 shooter he had that doesn’t function properly. He had 3 in total and sent me two, then he said if I got the broken one because he didn’t know which was which of the 6 shooters, he’d send me the 3rd because he never uses them. Well I got the broken one and he’s saying he’ll send me the parts he replaced and didn’t put in and blah blah. I’m just upset I can’t use my new to me revolver.
So who in the Edmonton (area) is a good gun smith to take this revolver to? The problem is when you cock the hammer, the cylinder doesn’t cycle to the next chamber. I’m not very knowledgeable when it comes to taking apart and fixing revolvers just yet. But I’d like a smith to look this over. Thanks for any help and opinions.

JMHO the revolver is not worth a lot of money...IT may cost you more to have it fixed then to buy new...
If you got screwed on the deal report the seller to the AO admin.

Trades I would interested in:
- Sightron rifle scopes, 4.5x14x42mm or 4x16x42mm
especially! with the HHR reticle. (no duplex pls.)
- older 6x fixed scopes with fine X or target dot.

Seller was outside of the forum. I’d just like other gun smiths local to Edmonton are to take a look and see what’s going on.

Thanks for the input. I plan on calling a couple gun smiths, just curious who people have used before for revolvers.

Finally had time to tear the revolver down and inspect it. Very simple creature once I got in there. I ordered parts for both R12’s I have. I ordered a gold target hammer and trigger and the new part to fix it. Going to class it up with the gold Reck inserts in the grip. Also ordered a few parts, the ones I can, for the other R12 to make it a 6 shooter.
My question now is, for me to order in a 22 magnum cylinder and 22 cylinder, and a bolt to finish the swap from 1S to 6S. It says I can’t order them and have them shipped to me. Is that something I could contact I Run Guns for and have them bring them in for me?

Cheaper
Probably cheaper to buy a 22 mag chamber reamer and go no go gauges and ream your cylinders, if im understanding the task at hand correctly?

Never thought of that, I can look into it. The existing 6 shooter cylinder is pretty worn out where the hand cycles the gear. I’m sure if will function fine but it looks like there will be some play in the cylinder timing. Looking where the the hammer has struck the cylinder.
I’ll need a new cylinder anyways for the single shot kit.
