Default Hockey Gear Washed

Recently picked up some Goalie Gear off Kijiji, just wondering how the guys/gals on here wash their gear?

Do you pay to get it professionally cleaned, if so, where do you prefer to take it, what's the best place and price?

Or have you had good success just throwing everything in the washer and dryer, or air dry?

Thanks in advance.

With goalie equipment most guys will soak it in a water and oxi clean mixture. If you search something like "goalie oxi clean" you should get some old forum discussions about it. My chest protector is getting to the point of needing such a bath, but I think that at 3.5 seasons old it is nearly due for replacement anyway.

It doesn't do much good for your current situation, but I'm a big fan of using a rocket dryer after the game. The quicker you can get the gear dry the better.

I play goalie 3 times a week. I take my pressure washer and rinse it out. Then tide soap and scrub it. I do it a few times a year. If someone says you smell, you simply reply "that's how champions smell'.

If you’re in Edmonton esporta is the best.

So much harmful bacteria in used hockey equipment it can become a health risk.

X2 and their prices are good. My old junior team used to bring our gear there a couple times a year to freshen things up. I make it a habit to bring my goalie gear there once a year.

I send a football team worth of shoulder pads and helmets there to be cleaned yearly. Great people to work with and fast.

Thank you guys for the responses, going to call the places mentioned and see what their prices are, if they aren't too high I'll go that route, or else I'll probably do boiling water in the tub with detergent and oxyclean and let it hang for a few days.

Thanks!
