Drop Away Rest Experiences
Hey fellas, I am at a bit of an impass here regarding drop away rests. I think I have it narrowed down to 3 and would like some feedback, ie// the good and the bad, not just this rest is the best.
The three, in no particular order are: Ripcord ACE, QAD HDX and the AXT Titanium Recon.
Again, if you have experience with theses rest please give me the low down. I am not in a rush to go and get a new rest as my current set-up works just fine. Thanks.

I know this one isnt on your list, but have a look at the Limb Driver Pro-V, I got mine just over a month ago and have been really happy with it!

Used the original Ripcord Redzone, didn't like that it dropped on a draw down....switched to the QAD HDX and never looked back, have them on all my bows whether target, 3d or hunting.

I had the qad on my last compound, definitely the rest I would get if I were to buy another compound.

I think on the ACE they have fixed the dropping of the rest on a draw down but appreciate your comments Lefty. From a guy that shoots like you, this is excellent insight.
Any more fellas?

The ripcord Ace is sweet!! Fully contained, you can lock it in the up ready to rock with the press of your thumb, stays up on let down. I've had it since it came out and is hands down the best drop away I have owned. It's the one I would choose I know the guys at jimbows Calgary like them as well.

I have the Ripcord ace. It failed on me so I'm throwing a whisker biscuit on. I'd got with the Qad

If it flips than one day it might flop, hunting try to keep things simple stupid, my two cents.

I also use the Qad HDX and have no intention of ever changing.

Can't speak for any of the 3 you mentioned, except for the QAD HDX. It's been on my bow since I got the bow in January 2010. In all that time, never has it failed me. I chose it over the Ripcord (at the time) because the QAD would stay up in launch position upon let down.
While some may say that IF it is mechanical it will fail, I've hunted in hot sun, heavy rain, snow and everything in between.... It's always loaded an arrow, brought that arrow up to launch position and dropped away when released without fail. I've even learned how to delay the drop long enough for a FOB arrow to work correctly....
I can't see me going with another brand when this one works so flawlessly...
But then again, it's just my opinion.... Best of luck in your decision.
J.

I had one qad fail me. Life time warranty with an over the counter exchange. Then the bowtech who replaced it scabbed it together and installed the wrong screws leaving my elevation screw too short so my rest would creep up and down.
Everything's straightened out and I like the idea but I haven't found quiet enough mole hair for the forks. I rocked a trophy taker on my Hoyt and man was that thing quiet when the arrow slid over it. I think I'd go back to a trophy taker if I had to replace my rest.

Cool, so they've finally made them as functional as a QAD. Only took them about 8 years, lol.

rip cord
I use it because it works and its easy to fix in the field.
Buy gear you understand and you can fix in the field with simple tools.
When bad things happen to bows its the worst feeling and hunt time is over.
cheers

Long time user of the RipCord Code Red. Finally had it break on me 2 weeks ago after 4 years of use. The cord tied to the down cable snapped inside the drop away housing. It was like performing neural surgery to fix it. Some tiny springs, detents and pins internally I would not want to do it in the field. I got it all fixed and to be honest, prefer something a little easier to fix going forward just in case. Loved the rest though besides that!

Rip Cord
Has'nt failed me yet.
But If I had the $$ I'd probably go QAD but don't know which one?
HDX, Ultra Hunter, LD, Pro??
I suppose that since I shoot a Hoyt I'd start there.......
