Default Cleaning an arrow after the kill

Hey,

I need some help.

I killed a WT doe the other day and now have an arrow that I am trying to reuse as there is no damage to it.

What do others do to clean their arrows after a kill? Hot soapy water? Cold water and rough cloth?

Any help is appreciated. And yes, new arrows are always a thought.

Thanks

Just rinse it off with hot soapy water ..why would you buy more arrows? Little blood never hurt anyone

I just spray mine down with some spray nine and give them a quick rinse. Really no big deal, soap and water works fine too. Same thing with my knives.

I clean em off right after with a paper towel while blood is fresh .Then when I get home I make a more thorough inspection to make sure it is 100 % and not cracked and vanes are intact .

In my opinion I wouldn’t use Spray 9 on a Carbon Arrow it is very powerful stuff not sure if it could weaken the arrow. Also I don’t think it’s very good to ingest specially if by some chance your arrow goes off the mark and sticks a hind quarter the chance of tainting your meat isn’t worth it. I just use good old Hot was and Dish soap.

My 2 cents

I use hot water with Windex or spray nine or dish soap. Make sure you check the inside. sometime a lot of blood gets inside, it will make it heavier than the rest. weigh it if you can. but I always try to reuse. Its a lucky arrow! Good luck on getting it bloody again.

What would you do if you spilled coffee on your arrows?

Warm water and descented NON detergent soap...like some of the hunter base liquid soaps...some dishsoaps/soap have detergeants that have UV brightners/optical brighteners...plus there's that Potpourri stink..lol

I bought a black light/UV-lamp bulb at a dollar store...use it to look at at my hunting gear...its amazing how some stuff lights up...laundry detergants with UV brightners being the worst culprit

Ahhh yes you should clean them as dried blood creates resistance and drag which will directly affect arrow performance especially off the rest. Same goes for the broad head, clean, inspect and re sharpen. Inspect the arrow for damage and guess what hot water and a rag will be suffice. Take care of your equipment and there will be no surprises. Now go get a Buck eh!
