Default Single pin

I picked one up in the spring. Montana Black Gold Ascent Ambush. I love shooting with it so far. Heading out this weekend to try it hunting for the first time so ill let you know how it goes. For target practice and 3D I wouldn't go back to a multi pin sight. If your decent at guessing yardages being able to center your pin on what your shooting at takes much of the thinking (holding one pin high or low) on your target out of the equation. It's also nice to have a clear sight window when your looking through your peep.

Fairly new to bow hunting and practiced all summer with a single from 25 - 45 yards. Love that it's not cluttered and just center the pin in the peep. It is adjustable so I studied my drops and rises, set it to where I hope or expect to shoot, but ready to compensate if I have to. Got my doe and boosted my confidence, but don't think I would go to multi-pins...for what it's worth.

on a shotgun....definitely....a bow....not a chance. cant imagine having to adjust crap when im stalking something. down here on the open prairies, a whisker blowing in the breeze can give you away let alone fiddling with junk i dont need to.

I agree when you have an elk or other game circling you to get downwind and you have one chance to draw....you need the flexibility of changing range without moving a pin.

It's not bad trying to adjust it, it's when you forget that sucks. I think they'd be great for 3D but I wouldn't use it for hunting. I had a couple HHA's, a dial and a slider. I liked the dial better fwiw. Also I'd go with the 010 pins if you go with an HHA, they are extremely good fiber optics with an adjustable shade.

I have tried twice to go single pin for hunting......hard. Both times I have quit and returned to a 5 pin sight.

It is tough to be consistent with your hold over under hunting conditions. I will rock fixed pins until I pack it in. If your sight picture is cluttered go with 4-5 instead of 7.

If you are determined the HHA is a solid sight. The other one worth checking out is the Montana Black Gold Ascent.
