the ones I got got sure were not when you can run your fingure along the edge and not make a mark . You should be able to shave with them I might go back to my vortex*. The montexs as for sharpening Im not inpressed to thik of blade to get a good edge

There's a link to a video on how to sharpen them on Montec's website if that'll help.

Default G5 Montec

Cooter were the heads black or sliver? If they were black then they are designed for practice.

I have shot G5 montec for years. You will never get them, nor any of the other 1 pc 3 bladebroad heads as sharp as replaceable blade heads due to the angle of the blade when sharpening them on a flat stone. Surgically sharp blades are sharpened at a higher angle making them sharper. They also loose and edge quicker.

I'll trade the very slight difference in sharpness for the benefits of a cut on impact, durability and simple nothing to go wrong design of the montec. I have killed well over 30 animals icluding moose and elk with the montecs. Everyone a pass through, no failures and 5 animals on one head I kept resharpening before I finally lost it.

And I'm not sponsored by them, although I'd love to be and thought I was going to be for a while.

I use the finest wet sandpaper(600?) on a hard flat surface. Easy to sharpen and definately sharper than new.

I only use them once and then turn them into target broadheads so i haven't run into this problem.I really like the g5 and can't see myself using anything else. They have zipped through everything i have shot with them.
